Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in RSM. I started RSM & Associates Company (RSM Auto) as a hobby in May 1990 because I didn't like getting slapped around every time I went to buy a new car and I didn't like the steep loss in value with a new car purchase. The sales process always seemed so confrontational. The salesperson would take my offer back to the manager, then return a few minutes later with a counteroffer. I would counter again, the salesperson would disappear for a few minutes and reappear with yet another counteroffer. What a physically draining process! If you didn't give up, you certainly felt that the person selling you the car was only reluctantly giving you a fair price. I knew I wanted the sales process at my company to be refreshingly easy. A person does not have to beat the deal to death to get good value at RSM.

As a sales professional, I was driving about 40,000 miles a year and replacing my car every 14 to 18 months. When the dreaded time came to trade the car in I would only get about half of what I had paid. I figured there had to be a better way.

The better way dawned on me in the years that followed. It became clear that the best transportation value is a two to three year old car. The second purchaser buys the car for 25-60% off the price new with only 5-30% of the total life expectancy consumed. The second owner keeps the car from three to five years and seldom makes any repairs that are not covered by warranty. Most cars we sell are corporate or lease cars. Customers can find good value in both.

In December 1994, the business went from being a hobby to a full time occupation. A friend of mine owned our current location and let me know that I could sell cars from his vacant field if I wanted to. He didn't charge me anything and had a 10' x 12' shed we could use for an office.

I used that 10' x 12' handy shed for five years! In the years since we started, we have kept our operating overhead low so we can continue to be very competitive with our prices and values that we offer our customers. In December 1999, we moved to a mobile office structure to better serve our customers.

We earn our business one person at a time. No one has to "work" to get a good value. It is easy to do business with RSM. We are now in our new building, and we look forward to serving you.
